Whether you’re looking to stay active, make friends, or try out a new sport, open practices are the perfect way to get involved in SASSE. These sessions are designed to welcome everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned athletes, no need for prior experience. Here’s everything a Småtting should know before stepping up on the field:
What Are Open Practices?
Open practices are drop-in training sessions that all of the IDU teams will hold during the second week of September. No registration needed, and a perfect way to see what IDU offers if you're stil unsure about committing to the sports fee.
When & Where
Schedule: Most sports host one session per week lasting between one and two hours. All times are found on the calendar of the sasse.se website. Also, give the IDU instagram a follow as well as the specific sports that catch your interest in case of late changes.
Venues: Sessions take place varyingly between sports and all locations are posted on the calendar. And if in doubt, don’t hesitate to send a DM to your sport’s insta.
What to Bring
Sports clothes & trainers – Wear something comfortable you can move in.
Water bottle – Stay hydrated, some sports get quite intense.
Special gear (optional) – Equipment like rackets and balls are provided. But if you want to bring your own, feel free to do so, you won’t be the only one.
Tips for New Students
Don’t be shy, everyone’s there to try something new.
Arrive 5–10 minutes early, some of the venues might be tricky to find your first time.
The coaches wear a blue shirt with a gold IDU logo on the back, say hi!
Bring a friend, it’s easier to step into something new together.
Try as many sports as you can, you might find a passion for something you’ve never considered before.
And a bonus tip: if you can't decide what to join, just come to badminton until you figure it out… I heard the coaches are cute.
