Note: The following texts are based on interviews with the candidates and have been summarized for readability. The level of detail varies depending on how much each candidate chose to elaborate. Every candidate was contacted for an interview and allowed us to publish their corresponding text.

Axel Almersson

Why are you running for Vice President?

“I was born and raised in a small town called Köping, so I am not originally from Stockholm. Moving here and not really knowing anybody, SASSE provided a home and a community. Without SASSE, you just study, go home, and eat dinner alone in your apartment. I believe that when you can stay at school a bit longer and do fun things, you appreciate life more.”

What would your year as Vice President look like?

“I want to make sure there’s an upgrade of certain things, for example the Rotunda sofas. A venue overhaul, making sure everything is suitable for students, is really important to me. I am a very structured person myself, so I would help provide structure for the year and for future generations. For example, with the new Enoksro. I also believe the inclusion of all students is important. Coming from somewhere else, I know the feeling of not really belonging. We have a lot of master’s and international students who could definitely share their experience and perspectives with bachelor’s students. This could be through lunch lectures or panel discussions open to all students.”

What previous experience in and outside of SASSE would help you in this role?

“I was a host for HD and I am now in the sponsorship team. I was also on the board of Der Verein, but I think where most people probably know me from is as a Big Parent for the Retail Management programme during the intro weeks. That was really fun, since I was Head of Sponsorships, and finding a balance that works for everybody between companies and students gave me a great perspective that will help me as Vice President. I am a Key Account Manager for the Circular Impact Club in RM, and before that I had an elite international career in sailing. I take on a lot of different things, but I’m not someone who joins something and only gives 50%, but I always make sure to give 110%.

Julia Ledin

Why are you running for Vice President of SASSE?

“I feel like SASSE is just such a warm and amazing community of people. I have found friends in all the different corners of SASSE, and I have had an amazing first year, all because of SASSE. I think SASSE is to thank for my student life being as good as it is, and now, I just want to enhance that and make it an experience that everyone at SSE gets to have.”

Imagine that you do win, what will the coming year look like?

“What I would want to do as Vice President is just bring in more of those casual moments; I feel like that’s when you truly get to know the people around you and meet new ones as well. I would love to have more of the things like lunch events, or even breakfasts, throughout the day. It happens sometimes that I go into the Rotunda or the Kårridor and nothing is happening, and I think that shows that there is a big opportunity to have more fun and socialising, which I think is what makes SASSE so amazing to begin with.”

What previous experience in and outside of SASSE would help you in this role?

“Wow, I think in SASSE, partly, I have had a lot of different experiences organising banquets: everything from ugly banquets to the Anniversary Ball. I just have a very wide range of experience; I have hosted lunch lectures, and I have worked on company events. I also have experience from SNNC (the Students Nobel Night Cap), which I think is great since it's coming to SSE next year! Outside of SASSE, I have been a scout leader since I was eight, and I think that has caused me to really internalise leadership: these days, I really feel like I have a lot of leadership in me”.
