Note: The following texts are based on interviews with the candidates and have been summarized for readability. The level of detail varies depending on how much each candidate chose to elaborate. Every candidate was contacted for an interview and allowed us to publish their corresponding text.

Fritiof Hök

Why are you running for SASSE President?

“SASSE has been such a monumental part of my time here at SSE. It’s going to be the memories I’ve made at SASSE that I’ll look back at and treasure. Now I want to pass that along, and I think I could do a great job doing that. I want to make the biggest impact possible in SASSE, and I believe it is as President that I can do that.”

What would your year as President look like?

“I am not trying to reinvent the wheel. The previous boards have built on each other, and I don’t think we should try to change everything. As President, I would look at every part of the organisation and encourage everyone to think: ‘How could this be improved?’ and ‘How can we do everything from receipt management to recruitment to events better?’ There are small things you notice as a SASSE member that feel like a thorn in your side but don’t seem important enough to fix, like the smell in the Rotunda, for example.”

What previous experience in and outside of SASSE would help you in this role?

“Hopefully, a lot of people recognize me as the former Big Daddy for the BE programme, where I was in charge of the intro weeks. It is the best thing I’ve done at this school. It was both a lot of fun and very valuable to run a committee of 25 people and a project with almost 200 people in total. I’ve also been part of HD and on the board of the Surf Committee, which have been great experiences that let me see other parts of SASSE.

Outside of SASSE, I have been on the board of a non-profit organisation called KFUM Ängsholmen, which organises summer camps. I have also been the treasurer there for three years. That has given me experience in working with strategic initiatives and solving problems on the go.”

Philip Hallberg

Why are you running for SASSE President?

“Because I feel like SASSE is such a great organisation, but it can become even greater and provide even more student opportunities. I think being elected is not about the person. Being president, you have a lot of organisations and opportunities where you are the face of SASSE, and if I were to be elected, I would not be there as Philip Hallberg, the president of SASSE, but rather, I would purely be a representative of the members of SASSE.

What would your year as President look like?

“SASSE next year will be present every day at the school. You will see SASSE in Expen, on social media, and in your email. I want SASSE to be an organisation that really fights for the interests of the students. We should be much more communicative with the everyday student, not just those with positions within SASSE. That’s what I really want to emphasize: There is a huge opportunity to improve the communication with the members. I want, not only me, but the entire future board, to be much more present and there for the students in their day-to-day life.”

What previous experience in and outside of SASSE would help you in this role?

First, I was the outreach manager for HD, which meant that I was responsible for contacting all of the different guests for the Late Night Talk Show, and I really loved that experience, so much so that this (next) year I will be a presenter on the talk show. Then I was also an analyst at SSIF, doing equity research. Finally, I became a board member on the Business Committee, as head of business development. This is a role where you are most responsible for the contact with all companies outside the financial and management consulting sectors. I was also a småtting parent, which I guess you could say was a bit more of a fun role as compared to my previous ones. Outside of SASSE, I am politically engaged, which I think is super interesting. I was a member of the city council of Lidingö, and there I really understood the importance of making sure your voice is heard, especially as a young person, which is an experience I think would be invaluable for the president of a student organisation.”

Rebecka Wolpert

Why are you running for SASSE President?

“I love SASSE, and I really believe that I could do a great job.”

What would your year as President look like?

“I will make sure to keep all of the wonderful and appreciated activities that we currently have at SASSE. But I will also try to find even more opportunities for our students. One of my election promises is about connecting Stockholm, meaning connecting the universities that are here around us, and giving more opportunities to connect with students with different kinds of interests and complementary skills.”

What previous experience in and outside of SASSE would help you in this role?

“I’ve been a part of a lot of things in SASSE. Maybe my biggest one was the role of Big Mommy for the 2025 introduction. I am also a part of the Social Committee and the Entrepreneurship Society. Both of them have given me great experience: The Social Committee with the social aspect and in the Entrepreneurship society I am head of VC Expansion, so I’ve been in a lot of meetings with a lot of investors.

Outside of SASSE, I’ve lived abroad in the US for three years. That definitely helped to improve my English. I also took a gap year where I was solo travelling, so I know how to plan things and take care of both myself and others along the way. I also worked as an au pair for three kids under the age of seven, and that’s a pretty big achievement I would say. I’ve done a lot of things to prepare for this and I feel very confident that I could do a good job.”
